I am thinking about builting a hemi with stage 5 heads and was just checking for pistons. And wonder if you have anything with a 4.500 bore and a stroke of 4.500 and a rod length from 6.860 to 7.100. This engine will see street use and only the track a few times.Do you have anything like this and do you have ring size in 16/16/3/16 or does it have to be the smaller ring? what about piston material do I get a choice or do I have to stay with the racing material that expands a lot when heated.Any info on this would be a great help thanks Terry.
Terry,
we don’t have any thing in stock for that bore size, but we can custom make them for you. depending on the rod you choose to use, you can use the 1/16 top and 2nd and a 3/16 oil. the standard rod 6.860 comes with a 1.031 pin and it would give you a 1.610 compression height with enough room to do any thing. You can still use a 7.100 long rod with a 1.094 pin but in this case you will have to use an oil rail support because the pin will be into the oil ring. for this particular combination, you have a choice of material, race or street material.
